Nowadays, the governments often make many addictive substances illegal because they may harm the health of those who take them. But alcohol and tobacco may also be dangerous to a person’s health, and they are legal.
For me, illegalizing substances such as tobacco or alcohol would be a bad decision for different reasons.
First of all,I think that I believe that illegalizing substances is not the best option, since the best method to cope with not using them would be to educate people not to illegalize drugs.
Illegalizing them you only get that a black marketing of this substance is generated, and only part of the population is benefited additively. In my opinion the best option is to legalize them because part of what has already been said, in this way you could control the amount of drug that Take each person, that is, you could minimize the harmful consequences of the drug being consumed.
In addition, much of the population today smokes or drinks, so illegalizing tobacco would not make great progress.
To sum up, I believe that the best option for people to stop using substances that are harmful to their health is to educate them and offer help to people who already consume them regularly.
