Black Friday is a globally known day in which huge sales are made. The buyers apparently get great deals, but is this just a way of today's society to push us to consume or are there any actual benefits of offering these discounts?
I personally believe that days such as black Friday are completely unnecessary, specially when the Christmas holidays are a month away. However, the timing is benefitial to companies because with the good feeling of having "saved money" on a purchase, people tend to buy more things they don't necessarily need and in December they have the excuse to do it again for Christmas' gifts.
More over, I highly doubt the consumers benefit from it as much as the big companies do. For instance, if you pay attention to the price of a product months before Black Friday and then look at it again on Black Friday, you might realize that they raised the initial price and made a discount, meaning the price is usually the same and the consumer thinks it is a bargain.
To conclude, in my opinion buying during Black Friday only feeds consumerism and the majority of the times it doesn't even benefit the consumer that much, despite it may seem quite the opposite.
