Nowadays, we are living in a society that a big percentage of people consume drugs whether or not they are illegal. Governments often make many addictive substances illegal because they may harm the health of those who take them. Alcohol and tobacco are legal but they can also harm people. So, should the government ban them?
Personally, I think that illegalizing these products would only reduce the consumption of alcohol and tobacco by a minimum. In my opinion, it would only reduce a bit the consumption of that products because smuggling is currently very present and the fact of illegalizing alcohol and tobacco, what it would bring is that there would be an illegal market for these products.
Furthermore, I reckon that people have to know what can be harmful to them and I think that each and every person who consumes harmful products should stop consuming.
All in all, I believe that the government should make alcohol and tobacco illegal because even if it is to reduce the minimum percentage of consumption, society would benefit.
