Opinion essay- David Moreno

Nowadays, Black Friday has become an event where consumers can get great deals on products they want or need. Every year we see huge cues of people waiting the shops to open just to be the first to get discounts, but the cues quickly become tsunamis when the shops open their doors. The question is: who beneficiated of days such as Black Friday?

I believe that Black Friday is completely unnecessary because only pushes the consumer to consume products that they don’t need. This generates huge benefits for the companies seeing that people buy more when they feel, for example, they got a great deal even when the discount is low or inexistent compared with the month before.

Moreover, only great companies can participate in these types of days. Small neighbourhood shops are forced to close due to the extreme competence of great companies that can make great discounts that attract consumers.

All in all, in my opinion, Black Friday only benefits the great companies and destroys the small shops without benefit the consumers at all. People must learn to control their impulses at the time of buy thing in Black Friday and don’t fall in the cheatings of the companies.
