Dialogue - Oriol García

Oriol and a friend talk about our day at school on our way back home.

Oriol: I noticed you’ve been bothering Edward a lot lately. The guy seems scared of your presence, he doesn’t like to go to the yard because of you.
Friend: There’s an easy solution to that, don’t go to the yard. He’s always so pretentious, and now that a guy seems to be confronting him he starts crying.
Oriol: You can’t blame him for being so superb, he’s always been like that, it’s not that annoying. Didn’t you go to school together?
Friend: He’s always been a huge donkey, and yeah I went to school with him. I was friends with him actually.
Oriol: Then how about you tell him you’re sorry for bothering him? Or at least stop making his life impossible, that would be a huge relief for him.
Friend: I won’t apologise, at least yet… But I’ll stop bothering him, even though he definitely deserves it.
Oriol: That’s great news! But you’ll eventually have to apologise to him for being so mean.
Friend: I’ll try doing that.

Dialogue - Aida Candelas

Option 1

Abby:  Blake, you can not continue that way, you have to recognize it.
Blake: Abby, I do not have to recognize anything.
Abby: Really? Blake now seriously, you have a problem about your behaviour with the girl you like, you are obsessed and you are to bullying her.
Blake: You won't speak seriously? Come on, it's not so bad
Abby: You can’t be serious! You have a problem. The other day you followed her all day! You only think and how to be with her!
Blake: You’re right, but I don't know how to fight this addiction or this obsession.
Abby: I see, we can try. Every time that you think with her, you tell me and I will try to make you think of something else. Another option, which could help you more, is you to ask a psychiatrist for help.
Blake: okay thanks.

Dialogue (Option 2) - David Dellunde

Two high school teachers, Jorge and Ariana, are discussing which could be the advantages and disadvantages of introducing ICT (Information and Communication Technology) as a new school subject.

Jorge: Actually, potential research becomes more tech-dependent. We need to encourage our children to develop knowledge about how to use the information and digital technologies, otherwise, they won't have job opportunities.

Ariana: I agree with your opinion. Boys and girls are raised in these days with a cell phone in their pocket. Many years ago, this was not to be anticipated. We ought to keep in mind that these younger generations are going to learn more and more about technology, which ensures teachers will pass the class. This will be costly though and some teachers would not comply altogether with the proposal.

Jorge: Completely, however, we would find that Information and Communication Technology should be a subject of primary school, we will be teaching simple, limited informatics concepts. And, for us, it needs to be readily understood. I see with this little question. It's a much-needed matter.

Ariana: All right! I can't wait to know new things and teach the children valuable concepts.

Jorge: It’s amazing and I am happy to be part of educational development.

Dialogue - Paula Gómez

At lunch Rebecca talks to Eli about her strange behavior towards Sarah in recent months.

Rebecca: Hi Eli, haven't you noticed that Sarah hasn't come to lunch with us lately? I feel her distant.

Eli: I don't know and I don't care.
Rebecca: Come on, Eli, don't be like that. Has she done something to make you act like that?
Eli: Act in what way? I have no problem with her, if she is a clumsy cheerleader it isn't my fault.
Rebecca: Don't be so demanding, she recently entered the cheerleaders and still has trouble adapting.
Eli: She needs some principles and doesn't have them. So the other day I spoke to her and told her that if she failed again in any movement, I would kick her out of the team.
Rebecca: Eli you don't realize that you are disrespectful and that you cannot threaten Sarah like this, and more knowing how sensitive she is. Take off that character of leader and realize that this way you will be alone in the team.
Eli: You're right Rebecca, I'll speak to Sarah right away and apologize for how I spoke to her. Thanks for opening my eyes.

Pau and Nerea are two teachers who are discussingthe rights and the wrongs
of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which is useful to learn
how to use new technologies, as a school subject.

PauI’ve listened that school principal is consideringmaking ICT an obligatory
subject. I think it’s a good opportunity for thestudentsDon’t you agree?

NereaThat’s true, but on the other hand I believe itshould be optional. No
everyone feels the necessity of learning how to use new technologies.

Pau: I see what you mean but, in factthat’s thereason why it must be
obligatory. I mean, nowadays we need technologyfor almost everything we do.
This way students would be more prepared for thelabor market.

NereaAbsolutelybut at the same time new generations already have this
knowledge about ICT, they learn on their own.

PauYou’re rightMaybe we should ask students fortheir opinion.

Amber Smith and Sam Brown, after being notified about the incorporation of Information and Communication Technology, are exposing their thoughts about it.
Sam Brown: Good morning, have you heard about the new subject that would be incorporated in the curriculum next year?
Amber Smith: Of course! The media talk about that all day long. Do you think that would be useful for our students?
Sam Brown: I can’t assure anything yet, first I would like to see how it goes next year, however, I find the idea very interesting. Which are your thoughts?
Amber Smith: I agree with you. I truly believe that it’s a great idea to implement technology in the classes, as it’s essential in our daily life, and would become even more essential as the years go by.
Sam Brown: Furthermore, nowadays, when you try to get a job, enterprises require some experience or understanding about technology. Nevertheless, I don’t really know how it would be presented so to engage students.
Amber Smith: I hope so. Well, now I have to go to class. See you later, Sam!
Sam Brown: Yes, we’ll see. Bye for now Amber.

Dialogue_ Javier Hidalgo

Dialogue

Javier and David are in the teachers' room discussing ICT, a new subject that their school will begin teaching next year.

Javier: I wonder why direction had not taken the idea of teaching ICT until now. It was such a necessary and demanded subject.

David: Well, I'm pretty sure there are other more important issues than teaching kids how to use mobile phones.

Javier: But ICT is more than just teaching how to use a phone, they will be taught how to surf the Internet safely and responsibly.

David: Well, I bet they'll use that time to play games and chat with their friends over their phones.

Javier: David, you're not even listening to me, right? So could you find another way to teach children the dangers and benefits of using new technologies?

Dialogue - Ariadna Johera

Sam: Noo, I get along very well with him we spend the day joking.

Marta: Are you sure of that?

Sam: You're an exaggerated, don’t confuse the things. We do jokes and everyone laugh.

Marta:  I don't think that everyones laughs. I think jonan doesn't find your jokes very funny, you must stop doing these jokes that can offend others.

Sam: oh wow, I thought that he liked it so I'll change my attitude.

Marte: I hope! I’m proud of you Sam.

James suspects his friend Cameron is a bully, but he doesn’t want to acknowledge it. They are having spontaneous conversation in which James explain why he thinks Cameron should stop this behaviour.
James (J):  Hey Cameron, congratulations on winning the match last Saturday.
Cameron (C): Thank you James, but we could have won the match with more advantage if Jack knew how to swim.
J: And we start again…
C: What are you talking about, James? I don’t understand.
J: Lately I’ve noticed that you are disrespectful with Jack.
C: I only make jokes… I mean, if he doesn’t know how to play water polo it’s not my fault.
J: You are hurting his feelings with your comments and he is already thinking on quitting the team.
C: Why? I never tried to hurt his feelings.
J: You may have to apologize an explain that it wasn’t your intention.
C: I’m going to apologize to Jack. It never was my intention to hurt him. Thank you for explaining me the situation.

Option 2: Dialogue (Guillem Brunet)

Mr Smith and Mr Chester are teachers and they are having a talk in the school staff room, they are talking about the rights and wrongs of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) as a subject.

Mr Smith: This subject has to be included in the student’s curriculum, the future of them is focused on these technologies, we should teach them how to use it and how to improve their mean points with them, it’s just their future. Don’t you think?

Mr Chester: Well, I’m not too sure but, in my opinion these technologies are just a complement for them, in the children’s academic development we have to be focused on their hard skills, they need to learn the academic bases before the soft skill’s development, we don’t have to mix it.

Mr Smith: Do you really think so? I don’t quite agree with you, I believe that seeing which profile the economic world search, we need to teach them, obviously, the hard skills, but we should taught it in parallel with the soft skills searched by this world, using this technologies.

Mr Chester: Yes, I agree here but we should introduce these technologies gradually, we are here always to help our students grow up, and using these tools could be a good way.
